Transformation "Squiggle Stories" were fun today! The kids love having a chance to tell about their stories!
We used our logical thinking skills and visual-spatial intelligence to solve "Ring Challenges"-Sorting shapes by attributes. We worked together and with partners to solve and create our own Ring Challenges. The kids are getting the hang of attributes!
We worked on our convergent (deductive) thinking by reading and solving a mystery story like detectives. After trying this together, we listened to an Encyclopedia Brown story and solved a mysterious case.
We learned more about our Multiple Intelligences or Ways that we're smart. We shared our homework, so we could learn a little more about each other and the ways we're smart. We also discussed a PowerPoint presentation that explained Multiple Intelligences a little more.
We worked on the concept of Value and Variable more today during our math time. The children went to stations to test out their understanding of "Value" and then worked with a partner to create a number sentence using a variable. An example: x + 5 = 7. The kids can also use a shape to represent the unknown or "mystery" number.
HW: Write a number sentence using a variable.
