Filled with Excitement!

Our day was filled with excitement for our new projects and learning opportunities.  We started off by creating a word cloud on Tagxedo.  Check out our products in the front pocket of our Target folders.  Pretty cool!  Then we used our divergent thinking skills to create a transformation of the outline of Italy.  I can't wait to see the finished products this week!

Algebraic Thinking:
We continued our work on patterning with some odds/evens practice and a game.  The kids enjoyed this tremendously!

Reading:
We challenged our reading skills with the first chapter of our novel, Monday with a Mad Genius.  The kids are enjoying the story and are looking forward to getting into the action!  In this chapter, there are several riddles.  We used our convergent and critical thinking skills to solve them.  Here's one:  What walks, but never runs, has a bed, but never sleeps, has a mouth, but no teeth?  Ask your child for the answer!

HW: Finish the Italy transformation and add a story about your drawing.
Looking forward to more learning!

It's been such fun getting to know my new Target buddies in first grade!  I've been looking forward to welcoming this fantastic group of kiddos all summer long!

We've worked on learning the expectations for Target.  We've also spent some time assembling our Target Notebooks to get ready for the exciting work we'll be doing.

We've had a good time working on problem solving and logical thinking by playing some games together like "Guess Who" and "GoGetter".  Check out these photos:
