We tried something new today with Station Rotation! The kids have used literacy or math stations in their regular classrooms, so I thought they might like to try them in Target! They did a fantastic job!
Critical Thinking:
As one of our stations, we explored some of the websites on our First Grade page of the Target Glog. Tangrams was a favorite!
Divergent Thinking:
One of our stations was a new form of divergent thinking next week-Creative Problem Solving! We worked in teams of 3 to create a playground using materials provided at our new Maker Space. The kids loved it! Check out the photos below!
Convergent Thinking:
To warm up our convergent thinking, we used clues and deductive thinking to solve riddles. Take a look at "Who is Mary?" and "Which is Mary's Dog?" that came home today.
We used our logical thinking skills to work on another Station: Attribute Game. The kids used task cards and attribute shapes to complete each Ring Challenge in the game.
We read a book, Detective LaRue-Letters from the Investigation about a dog who solved a mystery. We used our deductive thinking skills to solve the mystery before Ike LaRue. We also read another Encyclopedia Brown story and solved a mysterious case.
Affective:
We practiced Mindfulness today with a guided relaxation. Try it: Feeling Safe
Algebraic Thinking:
We dug a little deeper with Variables today during our math time. The kids worked independently on examples of number sentences with one, two, or three variables. They did very well with this today!
HW: Draw/write about your favorite Target activity from today's class.
Until next week,
Mrs. Kraeger
