It was great to be back with the first grade kiddos again for a full day of fun learning!
Convergent thinking helped us with our tasks of "Giving Directions" and "Describing Positions". These tasks are preparing the kids for more difficult logical thinking tasks later on.
We continued our work on Convergent thinking and added mathematical thinking with our station rotation of: Logic/Number Games on the laptops, Pattern Blocks Tasks, and a Logic Puzzle. Check out these photos of the kids enjoying their work:

Affective Skills:
We continued working on our Mindfulness Practice with another video, Beautiful Day. We followed that with "Hot Air Balloon", which really got the kids focused and relaxed.
We watched "Princess Smartypants" and discussed how she used her "Smarts" to solve a problem. We also talked about her Personality Traits. This lead to our homework assignment. The kids should create a Personality Box or Bag (Shoebox size-decorate it in some way) and put in 4-10 small things that tell about their personalities.
We also used a ball of yarn to make a web of ways we can work together to make a strong, positive classroom community.
