Convergent & Divergent Thinking:
The Station Rotation was filled with good learning opportunities!   We continued with logic puzzles and sequences for convergent thinking.  For divergent thinking we worked on a "Think, Turn, & Think".  We also worked on critical thinking with a Versatiles activity.

Divergent Thinking:
We created our Illuminated Manuscripts today by drawing an elaborate initial, coloring our drawings, and then washing over the whole thing with watercolor paints.  The finished products were AMAZING!  Check them out this week on display outside our classroom.

Self-Reflection:
We continued our Mindfulness Moments with a short guided relaxation.  View it here: Awareness of Breath.

Algebraic Thinking:
We continued Hands-On-Equations with different groups to meet everyone's learning needs.  Our new students are doing great, while our returning students finished their work on creating equations from word problems and moved on to Lesson 9-"Using the Star".

Medieval Unit Collaboration/Research:
Expert Groups collaborated on projects again!  They are really coming along!

Novel Study:
We read two more chapters in our novel, The Whipping Boy.  Jemmi couldn't believe that Prince Brat is so stubborn and dense as to mess up the Escape Plan!  We focused on identification of figurative language in these chapters.

HW:  Edmodo-Write a short update about progress on your Medieval Project.  Tell what you have finished, and what is left to work on.

Until Next Week,
Mrs. Kraeger

Convergent & Divergent Thinking:
The Station Rotation was jam-packed!  We continued with logic puzzles and sequences for convergent thinking.  For divergent thinking worked on a Valentine Creative Problem Solving task.  We also worked on critical thinking with a Versatiles activity.

Self-Reflection:
We continued our Mindfulness Moments with a 5 minute guided relaxation called, "Fire and Light".

Algebraic Thinking:
We continued Hands-On-Equations with different groups to meet everyone's learning needs.  Our new students are doing great, while our returning students are moving along with their algebraic thinking by continuing their work on creating equations from  word problems.

Medieval Unit Collaboration/Research:
We collaborated in Expert Groups to create projects to share their learning about our Medieval Times topic!  Great Job!

Novel Study:
We read two more chapters in our novel, The Whipping Boy.  Jemmi has just written the Ransom Note and is planning to trick the outlaws!  We focused on the use of verbal, situational, and dramatic irony in these chapters.

HW:  Edmodo-Write a short update about progress on your Medieval Project.  Tell what you have finished, and what is left to work on.

Until Next Week,
Mrs. Kraeger

Convergent & Divergent Thinking:
The Station Rotation was filled with great learning!  We continued our new logic puzzles for convergent thinking.  For divergent thinking we planned a design for our Illuminated Manuscript Initials.  We also worked on critical thinking with a Versatiles activity.

Self-Reflection:
We learned about 4-7-8 breathing in our mindfulness moment.  You can check it out here.

Algebraic Thinking:
We jumped back into Hands-On-Equations with different groups to meet everyone's learning needs.  Our new students are off to a strong start, while our returning students are moving along with their algebraic thinking by working on translating word problems into equations to solve.

Medieval Unit Collaboration/Research:
We collaborated in Expert Groups to research 6 student-chosen topics about Medieval Times.  All worked well in their collaborations today.  Students finished taking notes from their research using a Word document.  Then they collaborated with their Expert Groups to decide on a way to share their learning!  Great Job!

Novel Study:
We read two more chapters in our novel, The Whipping Boy.  The Prince and Jemmy are heading for trouble because of mistaken identity!  We focused on the use of dramatic irony in these chapters.

HW:  Edmodo-Tell about 3 facts that you've learned about your Medieval Expert Topic.  Next HW:  Describe a new punishment for Prince Brat.  (Both due Feb 11).
