Algebraic Thinking:
We continued our Hands on Equations lessons. This week was tough for both group so we'll keep working on these concepts next week.
Unit Study:
The kids shared their Cardboard Creations with a friend who gave them helpful feedback. Then they continued building. They are really making good progress now!
Novel Study:
We read another chapter of our book, learning about how Jonas Salk was the inventor of the Polio Vaccine. Interesting connections!
Stations:
The kids used their evaluative thinking to interpret idioms from our novel. They did a great one, although many had trouble with "Hole-in-a-Wall. The kids also created a piece about something "Snapping Into Place" for them, just like it did in our novel. The results are wonderful! When all are finished next week, look for pictures of their creations! The kids used critical thinking and convergent thinking to solve some tough math puzzles with our Versatiles kit.
Affective:
We collaborated to solve a "Broken Squares" puzzle. It was interesting to watch the kids solve the task without talking or gesturing.
Until next time,
Dr. Kraeger
