Algebraic Thinking:
The kids solved the mystery of the Math Mosaics by figuring out the Multiples! Since they were 7 and 8, it was pretty challenging work! Take a look at their beautiful creations using patterns and multiples!
Unit Study:
We continued our building! The kids are making good progress on their cardboard creations. Games should be ready to share for class on March 11th. If kids need more than two more class sessions to work, they should do some of the construction at home.
Novel Study:
We read a bit more of our book. We also debated whether a flame is alive or not. Interesting ideas shared! The kids had a blast playing Kahoot! while reading to challenge their critical thinking skills!
Stations:
We researched two topics from our book: Galileo and Robert Oppenheimer. The kids shared many interesting facts about each. This lead to a good discussion about nuclear war and the Cold War. You might think about watching the movie "War Games" with your child, if you think it is appropriate. It is PG and explains reasons for Nuclear Disarmament in a way kids can understand. The kids also used their convergent thinking to solve a logic puzzle. We stepped up to harder puzzles this week, and the kids did great!
Affective Skills:
We explored our value in society with an interesting lesson called "What's Your Worth?" This group is so insightful about what's really important and connections to real world situations.
Until next time,
Dr. Kraeger
