Stations:
We used our creativity and communication skills to write an advertisement for our "SCAMPERED" Backpacks. The kids did such a great job on this writing task! We also stretched our convergent thinking again with a Venn Diagram and Logic Puzzle.
Unit Study:
We listened to and read a survival story of a hunter, lost in the snow. The kids read and evaluated the importance of a variety of safety/survival tips. Mrs. Phillips, our Media Specialist, shared useful resources on Cobb Digital Library. These were very helpful later, when we continued our research and work on our Survival Booklets. Some of the kids are creating documents on Office 365, so they can access their work at home.
Novel Study:
We read a couple of chapters in our novel, My Side of the Mountain. Prior to and during reading, we used close reading to create a map of the Gribley Land that Sam is living on. The descriptions in the book helped us to fill in the details and landmarks.
Affective Skills:
We continued our mindfulness practice with "Why Do Humans Have Anxiety?" and the used our techniues in "Cloud Breathing". The kids are doing better and better at getting to that calm, relaxed state--ready to move to the next task.
