Convergent Thinking:
We worked on our logical and critical thinking skills with a new type of logic puzzle, a sequencing activity, and a math Versatiles activities. The Station Rotation was jam-packed with lots of great learning and really hard work! Excellent job, kiddos!
Divergent Thinking:
We worked on all four areas of divergent thinking with an F2OE-Fluency, Flexibility, Originality, and Elaboration. This one stretched their thinking for sure!
Communication/Self-Directed Learner/Technology:
We got our new friends enrolled on Edmodo and have our first Edmodo homework assignment on it. Look for Edmodo Parent Sign-up info next week, if you're not already part of our group.
Self-Reflection:
We compiled the results from our Multiple Intelligence Surveys to get an overview of class talents and also 5th Grade Target Talents. We saw some interesting patterns and will be analyzing these next week.
Unit/Research/Connections/Evaluative Thinking:
We watched three excellent short videos to prepare us for our new unit--Genius Hour! The kids were beyond excited to be working on a topic of their choice for this quarter. Check out this link for the videos that will explain about our Genius Hour projects. Also, look for project planning sheets and a parent info sheet to come home next week. We are hoping that this project will be one the kids will remember forever!
Novel Study:
We read a bit more of our novel, Operation Yes. We're beginning to find out more about the storyline and the characters, but still don't know anything about the "operation yes" part. Stay tuned!
HW: Use the Glog and other sources to investigate topic/project ideas. Discuss your project idea with a parent. Edmodo- Write a paragraph describing your project idea and your parent's reaction/support of this idea.
Eager for next Thursday!
