Unit Study:
We started our Genius Hour Unit. The kids each chose a topic to investigate for the next 9 weeks. They will research and then share their learning with the class during April and May. It's exciting to see them dig into their passions!
Affective Skills:
We chose a One Word Resolution for the year. It was interesting to see the words the kids picked. They created a bookmark to keep their focus on the word.
We watched an excellent video about Diana Nyad pursuing her passion to swim from Cuba to Florida. She shares her adventure in "Extreme Dream".
Novel Study:
We started a new novel, The Fourteenth Goldfish. The kids are equally fascinated by the cool science in this story and the wacky humor. It's a good one!
Algebraic Thinking:
We challenged our math thinking with a Math Stars to get warmed up and then got back to business with Hands On Equations. We'll be finishing up Level 2 soon and then jumping into some word problems. Big challenges ahead!
Stations:
We challenged our thinking skills with a choice of logic puzzles. We also used our critical thinking skills to unpack some idioms that appear in our novel. The kids did well with this activity!
