Algebraic Thinking:
We challenged our problem solving skills with Math Stars. It was pretty tough, requiring some continued problem solving to revise their solutions.
Unit Study:
We continued our "Crash Course" videos with "Board Games". The kids loved learning about the different types of games, their objectives, and the history of board games. We continued our research in the Computer Lab with the kids taking notes on different types of board games.
Stations:
The kids crushed our logic puzzle with their strong convergent thinking skills! Guess they need more of a challenge next week. We also used our creativity and communication skills to write a paragraph about ourselves in the style of Ungifted, our novel. The results were sweet, funny, and highly creative!
Affective Skills:
We watched a couple of videos about the importance of "Seizing the Day", including a moving clip from Dead Poet's Society. The kids really understood the consequences of missing out on things because you don't take the chances you're given.
We continued our Mindfulness Practice with "Mindfulness Bell". The kids enjoyed this one so much that we watched a little bit more of another "Mindfulness Bell" video.
Novel Study:
We read a bit more in our book, Ungifted. The kids enjoyed learning more about the different characters in the story and how they relate to each other. The humor has them chuckling and sometimes laughing out loud! It's such a funny book!
HW: Edmodo-Assignment about our book. Also, bring a board game to class next week for our Board Game Playing & Evaluation Session
Until next time,
Dr. Kraeger
