Our Learning Huddles made for a nice "soft start"! The kids are using amazing teamwork to crush Brain Builders and Think A Link.! Unit Study: We continued our work with Loops on Code.org. The kids really understand how and why loops are used in programming! Later, they programmed their Robots to do a "Night Surveillance" mission. Some groups even went beyond by adding a recorded voice warning. Stations: We stretched our convergent thinking with a logic puzzle and synonym analogies. The kids did well with both! We also tied our unit into our divergent thinking activity with a Robot Transformation. Check out the creative results in the hall outside our classroom! Novel Study: We read a bit more of House of Robots and found out the Sammy's mom is MISSING! Oh no! The kids had a blast using their creativity and critical thinking skills to make "Missing Mom" posters to help us find her! Remember that Target will be on Thursday next week. HW: Finish Missing Mom Poster Until next time, Dr. Kraeger Our morning got off to a "Soft Start" with Learning Huddles. The kids enjoy this friendly, collaborative way to begin their Target Day. We enjoyed two Mystery Readers for "Read Across America". They are former Chalker students who were visiting from Palmer Middle School. These girls are doing so well and the kids loved seeing our graduated "Chalker Cheetahs". Unit Study: The kids learned more about loops in coding today by using loops on Code.org. They created some really interesting images, similar to the old Spirograph. Algebraic Thinking: We learned a new legal move today with our number cubes. This is similar to "what you do to one side of the equation you must do to the other" that we remember from algebra years ago. They are doing very well! Novel Study: We read a bit more of our novel and followed up with an Exit Slip using critical thinking. Affective Skills: We continued our Mindfulness Practice with "Mindful Bell". HW: Edmodo Question Until next time, Dr. Kraeger |
