The kids are excelling in their logical thinking, so we're going to have to step it up a bit. I'll be offering them a bigger challenge next week. Can't wait to see how they do!
Divergent Thinking:
Wow! We worked on a Pumpkin Creative Problem Solving task. This time we used fluency, flexibility, elaboration, and originality to explore various pumpkin related tasks. The kids amazed me, as always with their highly creative ideas!
Algebraic Thinking:
We have zoomed right along and are using a new Legal Move--number cubes! The kids are doing well with it, especially because it makes the equations simple to solve. It's exciting watching them develop the basics of algebraic thinking when they're only 8 or 9 years old!
Novel Study:
We read a bit more of our book, focusing this time on whether the main character is making the right decision about Valentine's Day. We think she's exaggerating and worrying too much about it, but we'll see how it turns out.
Affective:
We worked a bit on character traits today by sorting 24 various traits into groups. They are all positive traits that should be developed as we go through life. It was interesting to hear how each group evaluated the traits and decided to categorize them into groups. They learned a few new words, like Temperance.
HW: Write about whether you think Mollie is right or wrong about telling her friends not to send her any Valentine's Day cards.
Looking forward to next week,
Mrs. Kraeger
