Unit Study:
We really got cooking on our coding today, crushing our Code.org Lesson-"Artist Loop". The kids are starting to understand how to use rotations and angles to help in their coding. Later, they programmed their robots to move in a triangle or a square. Good work!
Algebraic Thinking:
Our math time was filled with excitement as we learned a crucial new concept, the "Legal Move". This understanding changes everything about how the kids are solving simple algebraic equations! They were SO excited and did very well with the new skills!
Novel Study:
We read a bit more of our novel, learning some new things about our Robot and Sammy, our main character. The kids shared the funniest things that happened in the reading and then evaluated each to rank order them. Great job on the higher level thinking skills here!
Affective Skills:
We learned more about curiosity as we discussed "Wonder". The kids created "I Wonder..." charts listing some things they wonder about. They chose one topic to research for a mini-project to share at our next class. Each child will have 1-2 minutes to share their learning with us. They can create a visual or just tell us about what they discovered in their research.
We continued our Mindfulness Practice with "Calm Down & Release the Amygdala".
