Things are definitely looking up in our Third Grade Class! It's been a big transition adding 10 kids to a class of 9 students, but we are finally beginning to gel as a group. I'm very excited about this!
We spent our day working on many types of thinking and other skills. Stations: We stretched our brains with an Olympic theme this week. First, we had to use convergent thinking in coming up with Olympic related things in different categories beginning with the letters GREAT. Next we got creative with our inventions of a new Olympic Event. We'll take a few moments and share these next time. Can't wait for you to see the AMAZING ideas here! Novel Study: We learned some new words and got an EXTREMELY interesting clue about the mysterious Angel statue. We also discussed our "thick" questions from our homework assignment. Great job on your questions! Focus Study: Things are getting pretty mysterious for Audrey Aims too! She was challenged by Isis to recreate a section of the Book of the Dead, in order to put Osirus back together. Can Audrey do it? Maybe with our help! First we'll need to learn about the Book and also the really important stuff like: What's a scroll?, How do we make papyrus?, and How do we write in hieroglyphics? Looks like we're going to be super busy trying to prepare to help Audrey. Algebraic Thinking: Great news! Our returning students did very well on a challenging problem solving activity. Good work! Our new students worked through Lesson 3 in Hands-On-Equations. That means that we're all ready to join together for math next time. I have something extra special planned! HW: First in Math, Check out the Target Glog-Third Grade for important facts about ancient Egypt.
