We had a fantastic and exciting day studying our mystery today.
We observed our crime scene to get an overall view of the setting. After that, the kids worked with partners to carefully examine all the evidence from the scene. They wrote their observations on cards and placed them on the Crime Scene Map, along with a photo of each section of the Crime Scene. Later on, we heard the background story of the victim, Felix Navidad and statements from each of the suspects. The kids used deductive thinking to place important evidence with the relevant suspects. The kids began a question/idea journal about the case with some really interesting ideas about potential motives. Check out all the photos below!
We worked on our math problem solving with a new Math Star problem set. The kids did a great job using multiple strategies to solve the problems. At the end of the day, we read more of our book.
