What a fun day we had! We enjoyed a visit from Kids' Chess. It was wonderful to have Chess presentations tailored to the needs of our Target students, especially because chess meets several of our Gifted Standards!
Stations: We worked on a new kind of logic puzzle called a "Directive Detective". It uses convergent thinking combined with math to solve a quotation. We also worked on Divergent thinking with an activity involving Flexibility and Fluency. Our final activity was vocabulary building with Weighty Words. Mathematical Thinking: We combined our math time with our Focus Study in some Egyptian Math. The kids learned to do addition using Egyptian symbols for numbers through a million. Look for Egyptian Math Subtraction next week. Novel Study: We read a bit more of our novel. The main characters had a narrow escape from being discovered in the museum.
