Unit:
We made progress on our coding with a Code.org lesson on using rotations with degrees to create movement on the screen. Challenging, but so worth it in terms of the learning!
The kids started with their robots this week. They persevered through small challenges and overcame big obstacles to get their robots on track for Mission 1! So proud of their hard work!
Algebraic thinking:
We played a fun game called "Triplets". This is an algebra game where the kids match the variable values with an equation and a solution to make a true statement. It takes some practice, since there is only one correct way to match the four sets in each Puzzle. We'll continue that game this week.
Novel Study:
The kids enjoyed a few more chapters of House of Robots. They got the chance to share their robot jokes. Some were FUNNY and some needed a bit of revision to make sense.
Stations:
We used divergent thinking to create original Robots from parts and to draw the Best/Worst Science Experiment Ever! Love their creativity!
The logic puzzles were challenging, really giving the convergent thinking a workout!
The kids continued their Weighty Word vocabulary with Ostracize, Paradox, Quixotic, and Raucous. I can't wait to see the marvelous ways they visualize these challenging words!
