Affective:
We got our notebooks started with our section divider tabs. This will help us to be better Self-Directed Learners. We also took a multiple intelligence survey to see what specific talents/learning preferences we have in the classrooms.
We refreshed our mindfulness practice with an old favorite, "4-7-8 Breathing". Check it out and maybe try it yourself after a long day at work!
Collaboration Challenge:
We dusted off our teamwork to solve the problem of "Saving Fred" in small groups. The task: Find a way to get Fred the worm into the "life preserver" without touching either the life preserver or Fred with your hands. The only tools available were two large paper clips. AND, Fred cannot touch the water (paper) under his sinking boat (the green cup) or he will drown! Check out the fun:
We kicked off our Mystery unit with this cool and creepy intro- Chronicles of Harris Burdick. I hope you'll take a look. This is going to be such an exciting unit for the kids!
Novel Study:
We are reading From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler. This is one of my favorite books from my childhood! I know some of you feel the same way about it. Such a wonderful story! We haven't read any of the book yet, but will start reading it next week. If you have a copy of the book, please send it in for your child to use in class. If your child needs a copy of the book there are a couple of options:
I have set up a class order on Scholastic, so we can get the books for $2 each. Our class code is: GLKW8. Just order your book, paying by credit/debit card online.
First Time Ordering Online?
