It was wonderful to have a full day of fun learning with my first graders!
Divergent thinking:
We used our creative thinking to transfrom a squiggle into something new. The ideas were so colorful and clever! We used our "Inventor Thinking" to create an invention that would help Sybil the Scientist get across Crystal Pond. Such creative ideas! Good work!
Algebraic thinking:
We practiced our algebriac thinking by solving balanced equations. No manipulatives this time--just mental math! Great job kids!
Convergent thinking:
We used convergent thinking to solve two logic puzzles. The clues are getting harder and the kids keep solving those puzzles! We stretched our convergent thinking by creating an attribute train to make it out of Crystal Pond Woods. Pretty challenging, but they all did well!
We practiced deductive thinking by helping Encyclopedia Brown solve another case. The kids are getting better and better at using the clues in the story to figure out the mystery!
HW: Write down a title for your own mystery.
Yours,
Mrs. Kraeger
