Another great day of learning here in Target!
Divergent Thinking:
We worked on a service learning project today, "Strong Hearts for Kids". A local radio station asked for children to send in Valentine's Day wishes for youngsters sick in the hospital with heart conditions. All the "Heartfelt" letters will be brought to the Children's Hospital on Friday, Feb 13th in time for Valentine's Day. The letters your children wrote were so sweet and filled with beautiful, colorful drawings--sure to bring a smile to any child's face!
Convergent Thinking:
We used our logical thinking skills and visual-spatial intelligence to solve Tangrams, GoGetters, and 9Square puzzles. We'll be working on these every few weeks to build these skills.
Self-Reflection:
We shared our favorite books today. It was good to learn a bit more about what the kids like to read and also what interests them.
We continued our Mindfulness Moments today with a short practice of "Quiet Place". The kids are learning to use breathing to calm their bodies and minds. We'll practice a different Mindfulness Moment each week, so the children can learn to use these techniques on their own when they want to relax or become more focused.
Algebraic Thinking:
We worked on the concept of "Balanced" by using balance scales to compare things. We'll continue this work next week.
HW: Write and draw about some balanced things. This can be anything that balances, not only a scale with equal weights.
Until next week,
Mrs. Kraeger
