Hello there!
We had such a wonderful first day of Target! Here are some of the highlights:
We worked on logical thinking and giving directions with a practice page. Next time we'll expand on that to include more challenging attributes and oral directions with a partner.
We challenged our planning, building, and teamwork skills by completing the Marshmallow Challenge. Check out the pictures!

We built our affective skills through hearing and discussing the story of Ferdinand the Bull. Ferdinand is different from the other bulls. We talked about how Target kids are different and why they need to learn a different environment sometimes. We also talked about how different isn't better or worse, just different!
We played a fun getting-to-know-you activity to help us build team spirit and learn more about each other. I learned quite a bit about these kiddos!
We did a mini "Ice Exploration" during our brief outside time today. The kids were fascinated with the ice that had formed in the puddles on the field. Love those "teachable moments"!
We worked on our attention and concentration by learning about and practicing Mindfulness. It is a great tool to help children (or adults) calm their minds, relax, and focus on the task at hand. We only watched the first few minutes of each of these videos. Check them out:
"Hot Air Balloon" and "Beautiful Day"
Please send in a Pocket folder for our next Target class.
