The kids are definitely getting used to our new Target schedule. They were more organized today and seemed ready to jump right into learning!
Unit Study:
Some friends joined us for Reading/Math extension to work on our new unit, Leonardo daVinci. The kids are so excited about it! We did a couple of math brainteasers involving odd and even numbers, and the kids figured out the year of daVinci's birth and death. These kids rock at Math!
We also started our new book, Mondays with a Mad Genius. The kids are so ready to hear more about the adventure Jack and Annie will have with Leonardo daVinci! We talked about how Resaissance means rebirth, and how art, music, and science went through a "rebirth" at this time.
We used our creative thinking skills to transform Italy into something else. Check out the creativity below!
Stations:
The kids developed "I Wonder" questions for researching things they wonder about. These kiddos have so many interesting questions! They enjoyed getting started with some research on Cobb Digital Library. It might be fun to check it out at home too! The kids used their divergent thinking and commuication skills to play Boggle. They are becoming good spellers! They finished up with a convergent thinking game called "Brain Builders". It was pretty challenging to build these creations from just a picture!
New target students should bring in a composition notebook and folder next week for class. Also, don't forget to pack a little bit extra snack. Our mornings are long!
Until next time,
Dr. Kraeger
