These first graders really WOWed us today!
Affective Skills:
We started with a Classmate Bingo game to get to know each other. The kids had fun finding out about their classmates. Later we read Ferdinand and discussed how it might feel to be different. This led to a wonderful discussion about having unique talents and abilities. This is a kind and caring group!
Later we started a "Right On Target" activity about our Strengths. We'll continue that next week.
Stations:
We used our divergent thinking to create silly or realistic solutions to obstacles in the game "Lion in My Way". The kids did a fantastic job listening to others' ideas! They also used their creativity and convergent thinking to solve the picture riddles in "Add One". They are so clever! We used our logical thinking and visual discrimination to solve a 100 piece jigsaw puzzle! Super job! The kids continued their convergent thinking to solve a logic puzzle. Way to go kiddos!
Finally, the kids invented their own creations in our "Yamodo" game. So much fun!
The kids had a fantastic first day of Target for the semester!
They are used to an early lunch, but our Target lunch is at 12pm. It might help to send two small snacks on Thursdays to get them through until lunch time. Or a bigger snack, so they can save some for later in the morning.
Until next time,
Dr. Kraeger
