We enjoyed our last day of Target for 5th grade! Our morning was spent building and presenting our bridges. We had some VERY interesting designs! Later we worked on divergent, convergent, and logical thinking activities. Take a look at the great learning we had today: It has been a wonderful year with these talented kiddos! We'll miss them so much next year!

We started our day off with our last lesson on Growth Mindset. The kids shared some excellent examples of how they've grown and changed this year! Next, we experimented with different structures using our K'Nex Bridge Building Kits. Some groups were able to complete FOUR different bridges! Check out the results: The kids worked in groups to create unique bridge designs for our final building project next week. The results should be very interesting and innovative!
We also worked on our math problem solving with a Math Stars task. The kids are getting better at these, with each time we practice! We enjoyed an interesting Question and Answer session about Advanced Content classes in Middle School from our guest speaker, Rick Parker--Gifted Lead teacher at Daniell Middle School. HW: Edmodo-Bridge Design Question Until Next Week, Dr. Kraeger We got right down to business this week, after missing Target last week for the 5th grade Chattanooga Trip. We finished up our Bridge research with our Webquests and a more in-depth Jigsaw Learning Mini-Research project and presentation. We also watched a Discovery Ed bridge video to gain even more knowledge about bridges. In other areas, we tackled more about growth mindset with a video about how learning challenging things can actually change our brains. A new 300 piece jigsaw puzzle challenged our visual discrimination and logical thinking skills. Later, we worked in groups to complete a creative problem solving task: "Future Toy". The ideas were pretty unique and the groups did a good job! Check it out here: HW: Edmodo Bridge Question
