We had a great day of learning in Target!

Unit Study: Perspective
We learned about the parts of a Formal Debate in preparation for our research and Mini Debate next week.  We also combined our creativity with perspective to make "Upside Downside" pictures.  Check them out in the photos!

Algebraic Thinking:
We got started with Hands On Equations again this week.  The kids reviewed Legal Moves and practiced how to evaluate expressions and use parentheses in equations.

Novel Study:
We continued with our book, Ungifted.  The kids read a bit on their own to find irony in the chapter.

Divergent/Affective Skills:
We continued our "Super Hero" work by creating storyboards for our Super Hero stories.  Next week the kids will begin drawing.

HW:  Ungifted Exit Slip, H.O.E. Lesson-"Previous Work" only, Storyboard

Until next time,

On a Roll!

Unit Study:
We finished our evaluation of sources with the "Truth about Paul Revere's Ride".  The kids did a good job in pointing out the inconsistencies with the other sources and even discussed reasons why a primary source might be missing information.  It was a detailed dive into this topic!

We tried a fun activity about perspective in what we see.  The kids had to draw 4 different views of the same block structure.  Some were very challenging because of the perspective.

Our math activity was a continuation of our study of statistics.  We worked several examples of mean, median, and mode.  The answers to the problems will spell out a Math Lib.  Should be fun to read!

Novel Study:
We read a bit more of our novel.  The kids really enjoyed our Kahoot to challenge their critical thinking skills!  Then they worked on a Tin Man SCAMPER to stretch their divergent thinking skills.

Divergent/Affective:
We worked on the plotline for the Super Hero comics.  The kids will continue this next week.

HW:  Seesaw-Perspective
Until next time,

So Good to Be Back!

It was great to see the kids back together again!  They worked hard all day!

Unit Study:
We stretched our convergent thinking skills with a Perspective-related Cryptogram.  It was hard, but the kids plowed through to solve it!  Next, the kids compared and contrasted different accounts of Paul Revere's famous Midnight Ride.  We are evaluating how perspective impacts storytelling.
Our math activity focused on statistics and how they can represent data differently.  The kids learned about Mean, Median, and Mode by practicing calculating some of each.

Novel Study:
We continued reading Ungifted, which is a humorous story told from the perspective of different characters at the Academy for Scholastic Distinction.  The kids used their evaluative and divergent thinking to create a scene from the book showing the perspective of one of the characters.  I love the creativity they show through humor!

HW:  Watch "Liberty Kids-The Midnight Ride" and answer Seesaw questions.

Until next time,
