Our volunteer judges were wonderful! We appreciated their feedback VERY much! Parents who stopped by were very complimentary of the final projects and the TREMENDOUS amount of work that went into this unit!
Results were tallied and it was a VERY close competition for the top 3 teams: Cooler Cones 140 points, Codex Security 138, Transform-O 136. The team results were as follows:
Imaginators 10th (This was a 4th GR. team)
Touchscreen Gloves 9th
Swift Recycling 8th
Crazy Shoe Lines 7th (Another 4th GR. team)
Danger Bracelets 6th
Self-Cleaning Keyboards 5th
Self-Cleaning Clothes 4th
Transform-O 3rd
Codex Security 2nd
Cooler Cones 1st
I am very proud of the kids for digging in, doing the research, and learning the Design Process. I told the kids today, that any of these inventions are possible, with or without going to the GaTech InVenture Competition. It just depends on whether a group wants to take on the Patent Process.
Later in the day, we exercised our convergent, divergent, and critical thinking skills with a logic puzzle, a jellyfish transformation, and some critical thinking questions about figurative language from our book. Check out the Transformations outside the classroom this week. They are SO creative!
We managed to read 5 (short) chapters in our book today. It is nearing the end, so the kids are super excited to see how everything turns out for Melvin.
