JUmping into our unit

We are fully back in the Target mindset!  Everyone remembered their homework and turned it in on time.  Great work!!!  It is important that all students record their homework each week and get a parent signature on their assignment sheets.  We had several students missing this today.  This is one of our Target Standards-Self-Directed Learner, so let's get this accomplished!

Stations: We honed our convergent & divergent thinking by working on logic puzzles and a creative Time Travel activity.  We also used our evaluative thinking to make connections in our Novel Study.

Alegebraic Thinking: We used our evaluative thinking to review our Hands-On-Equations word problems solutions.  This was a challenge, since these problems are pretty difficult!

Focus Study: We jumped back into our unit by learning about classification.  We discussed animal classification with Kingdoms, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, and Species.  Then we did a fun activity involving shoes.  Ask your child about it!

HW: Choose your top 3 choices of frogs/toads to research

Hopping your way next week!

We got off to a great start on our Focus Unit of Frogs.  Our work today included convergent, divergent, and evaluative thinking as we investigated a mysterious frog situation, frog vocabulary, and even ethics of animal research.

The students will be learning many things about frogs and their environment as we progress through our unit.  We will work on individual frog projects to gain understandings about the species and individual members.  All of our learning will prepare the students for frog dissections a the end of the unit.

HW: Write a reflection on "The Last Frog" video.

  •     How did the video make you feel?
  • What was the message?
  • Why is it important to study frogs?
  • Why is it important to save frogs?
