Stations:
We used our convergent thinking skills to solve number puzzles.  These were VERY challenging, and the kids gave it a strong effort.  They were able to solve many of them!  They used their communication and divergent thinking skills to come up with a quote for the funny frog poster.  Take a look at the responses in the photos.

Divergent Thinking:
The kids used their divergent thinking skills to come up with incredibly creative solutions to the tasks on our May F2OE.  Wow!  They've come a long way with their creativity this year!

Novel Study:
We finished our book, The Way to Stay in Destiny. The ending was very sweet!  The kids really enjoyed this story!  After we finished reading, the kids used their divergent thinking skills to create either a new ending or an epilogue for the book.  The results were excellent!  I was very impressed with how their writing has grown!

Algebraic Thinking:
We used a variety of strategies to solve various math problems.  The kids enjoy the challenge of solving problems they haven't learned yet in their math class.  They soak up new concepts like a sponge!

It's been a marvelous year!  Thank you so very much for the thoughtful gifts and cards for Teacher Appreciation.

I'm looking forward to some amazing experiences with these kiddos next year!  We've got some good things planned!

Have a wonderful summer and see you next year!

The Big Day!

Wow!  What a day we had!  We started out with some divergent and convergent thinking with our Waker Upper!

Stations:
We used our convergent thinking to solve two different logic puzzles--"My Place in the Pond" and "Frog Origami".  The kids did an amazing job with these!  We also used our communication skills to do Back-to-Back Frog Drawings.  Partners had to describe how to draw the picture they had to the other partner who was doing the drawing.  The results were pretty interesting!

Algebraic Thinking:
We worked to solve a variety of math problems with different strategies.

Unit Study:
We finished our last Frog Anatomy chart.  Then, we had our Dissection!  The kids did an AMAZING job! They worked together, listened to our Scientist, and were able to do a lot of exploration with their specimens (Crayfish and Frog).  The kids were able to identify and examine many of the internal organs for both animals, as well as find out some weird facts about each animal.

With Milestone Testing, our Target Day was shorter than usual.  The kids were very excited to get started after they had some play outside!

Unit Study:
We enjoyed sharing our Frog Projects today!  There were some fantastic projects!  We all learned SO much about all the different kinds of frogs!  This was the best set of projects we have seen from our Fourth Graders.  We can tell they really worked hard!

Next week, we'll have our Frog Dissection during our regular Target Day.  We can't wait!

HW:  Edmodo-Quiz: Frog Project Reflection

Until next time,
