Divergent Thinking:
We worked on an F2OE (Fluency, Flexibility, Originality, and Elaboration) which stretched creativity using situations from our novel, Way to Stay in Destiny. The kids were coming up with some amazing ideas!
Algebraic Thinking:
We're moving full-steam ahead with Hands On Equations! Our new students have almost completed Level 1, which is great! Returning students have almost finished Level 2. Next, we'll start Word Problems again. That will be the BIG challenge!
Unit Study:
The kids did a fantastic job working on the movie today by scouting locations, creating To-Do lists for the production tasks, and finalizing ideas through brainstorming. They will start designing props, set backgrounds, and other items next week. They will also finish up storyboards and begin writing scripts.
Affective Skills:
We explored criticism vs. feedback today, using a Simon Cowell insult video. The kids created skits portraying different criticism situations. The class discussed ways to provide and accept constructive criticism. They came up clever ideas.
Later, we continued our mindfulness practice with some work on "Kicking Logic Back into Gear" to stop worrying. Some helpful tips the kids can use themselves.
Novel Study:
We read another chapter of our book, which led to a school-based mini research project: Chalker Fun Facts. The kids came up with so many amazing and interesting facts about Chalker! I'll add those to the front page of our Blog!
No HW over Break!
Enjoy your time off!
