Stations:
We worked our way through "Camp Calamities" using convergent thinking to decide who suffered a broken arm, a bee sting, poison ivy, and food poisoning. Good thing none of that has happened in our book!
We used our creativity, communication skills, and text evidence from our books to create Tweets of our favorite survival tips. The hashtags were pretty clever!
Algebraic Thinking:
We combined our Valentine Ideas with our Math Minds to create "Math Multiple Mosaics" using multiples of 7, 8, and both. They are truly beautiful!
Affective Skills:
We worked some more on handling criticism with a short video and discussion about acting like a duck with water running off it's back. The kids seem to get the idea pretty quickly.
We practiced our mindfulness to get ourselves refocused using Cloud Breathing. The kids are doing better and better at calmly and quietly participating. It's making a difference for many of them!
Novel Study:
We read a bit more in our novel, meeting Sam's friend, Baron-the weasel, and learning how to make salt from burning hickory sticks.
Unit Study:
We continued our research on survival skills. The kids are moving right along with many finish their first chapter for the Survival Booklet. Next time, they will finish the second chapter for the booklet.
HW: None!
Enjoy your Winter Break!
