We had a wonderful day of learning!

Affective Skills:
We continued our discussion of "Fairness" and how it looks in various situations.

Algebraic Thinking:
We continued our math problem solving skills.  The kids are doing a great job!

Stations:
We stretched our convergent thinking skills with a Logic Puzzle and worked the divergent thinking skills by creating 2 more SCAMPERS.  We also began our work with Weighty Word.  The kids will be learning advanced vocabulary words and using their creativity and knowledge to make visual representations of the word each week.

Novel Study:
We continued our novel, Enola Holmes and the Missing Marquess.  The kids are enjoying this action-packed mystery!

HW:  Seesaw-catch up on unfinished work

Until next time,

Getting Things Done!

We had a fantastic day of learning in Target!

Affective Skills:
We had a great discussion about fairness--what it means and how that looks in school.  The kids really understand that some people need different support, learning settings, assistance, or experiences and that it is fair to make sure they get what they need.

Algebraic Thinking:
We continued our work with The King's Chessboard and number patterns.  Nolan saved the day by counting how many grains of rice fit into one teaspoon.  This let us figure out how many grains of rice it would take to feed our class and what day we would have enough rice to do that.  We even figured out how much rice it would take to feed the whole third grade and when we would have enough rice to feed them!

Unit Study:
We finished writing our Mystery Stories today.  Check Seesaw for a link to record the story on Flipgrid.  We're planning a "Mystery Story Theater" to share with the class next week!

We also used our detective skills and convergent and evaluative thinking to solve the "Stolen Backpack Mystery".  The kids loved analyzing the clues and evidence to determine the culprit!

We used our convergent thinking skills to solve another cryptogram.  The kids are practically professionals at these now!

Novel Study:
We started a new mystery-Enola Holmes and the Missing Marquess.  The kids are totally into the story and can't wait to see what happens next!

HW:  Cryptogram

On a Roll!

We are rolling along now!  Target kiddos have gotten into the swing of things now that we're into the second week of our instructional model.

We are not sharing supplies in school.  Please make sure your child has a pencil box or bag with these supplies:
2 pencils, eraser, glue stick, crayons, glue stick.

Affective Skills:
We shared our "I Wonder" projects.  The learning shared was incredible!  I'm so proud of the curiosity and enthusiasm to learn I see in these kiddos!  Several kids didn't get this mini project done, so they will present next week when they are prepared to share.

Unit Study:
We continued working on our Mystery Stories.  The kids will finish their stories next week, and then prepare for our "Mystery Story Theater".  Wait until you see it!  Our fingerprint analysis skills helped us to solve a case--"Who Robbed the Safe?"  The kids cracked the case, finding out the accountant's fingerprints matched those found on the safe.  We used our convergent thinking skills again to solve a cryptogram.  The kids said, "This is SO fun!  Can we do another one next week?"  Music to a teacher's ear!

Novel Study:
We finished up our book, Big Bad Detective Agency. The kids predicted the solution and many were correct.  We'll start a new book next week.

HW:  Seesaw-Solution Prediction
Until next time,

Off to a Great Start!

We had a great day of learning! The kids are excited to work on their "I Wonder" mini-projects, which will be shared on Tuesday.  They will share about their topic for 1-2 minutes. The kids are continuing to write their Mystery Stories. The stories are saved in Office 365, so they can work in class or at home.

We stretched our brains with a tough Cryptopgram puzzle and the kids conquered it! Math Stars were pretty challenging to get algebraic thinking going. We will finish those this week.

The kids had fantastic fun with their divergent thinking transforming a magnifying glass. I can't wait to see their finished products! We kept up our mystery theme with work on taking and classifying fingerprints. The kids were fascinated to learn which types of prints they had and surprised that sometimes their hands had different fingerprint patterns.
