Mystery PIctures & Smells!

It was a day of mysteries in Target!

Unit Study:
We analyzed DNA samples from the hair found in the comb at the scene of the "crime".  We also analyzed whose cologne was on the towel found at the scene by evaluating that smell compared to samples from each of the suspects.

Stations:
We used our convergent thinking to solve a "Thanksgiving Destinations" logic puzzle.  We also continued our Weighty Words with Expedient and Felicity.  The kids are doing an excellent job visualizing the meaning of these words and using them in sentences during conversation!

Algebraic Thinking:
We used our math skills to learn about ordered pairs--applying this new concept to create a Mystery Picture.  Take a look at the photos to see what it is!

Novel Study:
We read a couple more chapters of Enola Holmes..  The kids are hot on the case of this mystery and can't wait to find out what happens next!

No Homework!  Enjoy your Thanksgiving Break!
Until next time,

Day Full of Mystery!

What a day we had in Target!

Unit Study:
We discovered there was a "Crime" at Chalker!  The kids had time to examine our "Crime Scene" of poor Felix Navidad.  We're going to examine all the evidence to figure out which of our suspects was responsible for his untimely demise, if he's really gone!  Our first Forensic Station was to examine the fingerprints found on the cups at the scene.  The kids will record the data from each Forensic Station and use the results to help them solve the mystery.

Algebraic Thinking:
We learned how to decode mathematical symbols to solve a family tree.  The logical thinking was great!

Stations:
We continued our reading of Weighty Word with Coruscate and Dogmatic.  Ask your child what those words mean.  You'll be surprised that they really know!
The kids also used their convergent thinking to solve a logic puzzle.  Some of the kids recorded their Mystery Stories on Flipgrid.  We'll share a link next week, so you can view our "Mystery Story Theater".

Novel Study:
We read another chapter of Enola Holmes.  The kids love this book!

HW: Finish Weighty Word, Logic and Math if not done.
Until next time,
Dr. Kraeger

My favorite 3rd Grade memories are reading really good books and camping overnight with the Girl Scouts.
