Unit Study:
We learned a bit more about Coding today with a lesson on moving in various degrees to make angles. The kids used this knowledge to begin Mission 1 where they program the robot to move in a triangle.
Algebraic thinking:
We continued our Hands On Equations lessons by learning that x represents the variable or missing number. The kids are still getting comfortable with this idea, as well as what 2x or 3x or x looks like represented with pieces on their balance scales.
Stations:
We continued our study of challenging vocabulary with Nonconformity and Ostracize. The kids did a fantastic job finding excellent pictures to represent their chosen word. I can't wait to see the finished products next week! We also challenged our convergent thinking skills with a choice of logic puzzles--Grid Style or Perplexor.
Affective Skills:
The kids dove deep into curiosity today by watching a video, "Keep Moving Forward" and inventing a new device from a toilet paper role and scrap materials. They definitely showed their creativity on this one!
We continued our Mindfulness Practice with "Fear vs. Anxiety" and "2 Minute Breathing".
Novel Study:
We read a bit more of our book, finding out why E was suspended from school on his very first day. Who would expect a robot to start a food fight? The kids shared their Robot Jokes, thanks for checking them out before they were shared in class!
